Description of Wreck

San José was a ship from the Armada del Mar del Sur, lost in 1631 on its voyage from Lime, Peru, to Panama. Sticking the bottom on shallow water, it was almost completely salvaged at the time.

Team

This site was salvaged in or around the early 2010s by a treasure hunting company named Investigaciones Marinas del Istmo (IMDI) and the artifacts were divided with the Panamanian government.

To our knowledge, there is no archaeological information published about this site.
